A way forward when travel gets in the way

You may live in different countries, share a home abroad or want to marry now and celebrate with family later. Your ceremony brings you together live, with an officiant to guide you through each step.

How your online marriage works

From your first step to your live ceremony

We guide the ceremony process. Your portal connects you with the license application and keeps your next steps in one place.

01

Choose your package

Select the online ceremony, or include apostille authentication if that’s the document support you need.

02

Apply for your license

Use the link in your portal. You and your partner can complete your parts from separate locations. The government license fee is paid separately.

03

Confirm a time together

Choose your ceremony date, double-check both time zones and arrange your two adult witnesses. You can bring your own or select our witness option.

04

Say “I do” live online

You both join by video with your officiant and witnesses. After the ceremony, your officiant completes the required filing.

The paperwork, explained simply

Know which marriage documents you need

The right documents depend on where and how you plan to use them. Here’s what the main terms mean.

Your marriage certificate

This is the official record of your marriage after the ceremony is filed. A certified paper copy is different from a home printout of a digital certificate.

An apostille

An apostille verifies the official signature or seal on your certificate for use in countries covered by the Apostille Convention.

Translation or other authentication

A receiving office may also ask for a translation. Countries outside the convention may use a different authentication process.

A useful question to ask

“What do you need to accept our marriage certificate?”

Ask the specific office that will receive your documents, such as a civil registry, consulate or immigration office.

  • Do you recognize a marriage completed through a live online ceremony?
  • Do you need a certified copy, an apostille or another type of authentication?
  • Do you require a translation or local registration?

A clear legal foundation

Understand your marriage and its use abroad

You and your partner attend a live ceremony remotely, with an authorized officiant guiding you through the required steps.

Understand the legal process ↗

A real ceremony with required legal steps

You need a valid marriage license, an authorized officiant, two witnesses age 18 or older, and the required filing. Everyone must be able to see and hear one another during the ceremony.

Recognition depends on the receiving country

A legally issued certificate does not mean every country will recognize a remote marriage. An apostille authenticates a document; it does not change that country’s marriage laws.

Planning to use your marriage for U.S. immigration?

If you are physically apart during the ceremony, U.S. immigration rules generally require the marriage to be consummated after the ceremony before it qualifies for spousal immigration purposes. Ask a qualified immigration lawyer how this applies to you. Marriage does not itself grant a visa or immigration status.

Two ceremony packages

Choose the document support that fits your plans

Both options include a live online ceremony. Apostille authentication is the main difference between the packages.

With document authentication

Ceremony + apostille

$899

Includes your ceremony and apostille authentication for your marriage certificate.

Answers for planning across borders

Not sure where to begin? Tell our team where you both live and what you’re planning.

Ask about your next steps ↗
Can we marry if neither of us is a U.S. citizen?

Yes. U.S. citizenship and residency are not required for this marriage license. You both still need to meet the eligibility requirements and complete identity verification.

Do we need to travel to the United States?

You do not need to travel to the United States for the remote ceremony. You can attend together or from separate locations, with a reliable connection and a camera and microphone.

What should we have ready for the application?

Each applicant needs a valid government-issued photo ID, an email address and access to a smartphone for identity verification. Have the details of any previous marriages ready too. Follow the application’s instructions for your circumstances.

Can our witnesses be in another country?

Yes. Your two adult witnesses can attend remotely. They must be able to see and hear you, your partner and the officiant, and be seen and heard during the ceremony.

Do all international couples need an apostille?

No. The office receiving your certificate determines what it needs. Some uses call for an apostille, others require different authentication, and some do not require either. Ask that office before choosing document services.

Can we use a digital certificate abroad?

Some offices accept digital certificates; others ask for a certified paper copy and additional authentication. Check how the receiving office wants the certificate submitted.

Can family and friends join from different places?

Yes. You can share your ceremony link with guests so they can join online. You still need two adult witnesses to take part in the required ceremony steps.

What if our plans change after booking?

Let us know. We’re happy to work with you to reschedule your ceremony, and our team can help if you need to change your package.
