How it works

A live ceremony with help along the way

You both take part in real time. Your officiant leads the ceremony, and two adult witnesses attend by video.

01

Choose your package

Create your account and select the ceremony package, or add apostille authentication if you need it.

02

Apply for your license

Follow the link in your portal to apply with the issuing authority. Pay the government fee separately, then upload your license.

03

Arrange your ceremony

Choose your date and time, check the time zone, and select whether to bring your own witnesses or use our witness option.

04

Join together by video

Use your ceremony link at the confirmed time. Your officiant guides you through the ceremony and completes the required filing.

  1. Valid identification

Have the required government-issued photo ID ready for the license application.

  2. A shared window in your schedules

You must both attend live. Check local time zones and any duty or location restrictions before confirming.

  3. A reliable video connection

Use a device with a camera and microphone, and test your internet connection beforehand.

  4. Your witness plan

Two witnesses age 18 or older need to see and hear the ceremony. They can join from different locations too.

Your next steps for military records

Your marriage ceremony and your military paperwork are separate steps. You don’t need to figure out every office on your own before asking for help.

Get your marriage certificate

Once your marriage is recorded, your certificate is the document you’ll use to show that you’re married.

Update your records

Contact your personnel office about the updates that apply to you, including marital status, housing information and emergency contacts.

Arrange DEERS and health coverage

Ask your ID card office what documents to bring to add your spouse to DEERS. TRICARE enrollment requires a separate action; it doesn’t happen automatically when you marry.

Legal Online Marriage is an independent marriage service, not a military or government agency.

Your ceremony, with an apostille option

Both packages include a live online ceremony. The difference is whether you also need apostille authentication for your marriage certificate.

Ceremony + apostille

$899

Includes your ceremony and apostille authentication for your marriage certificate, for use where an apostille is required.

Questions from military couples

Get clear on the details

Have a question about your situation? Ask our team ↗

Can we get married if we’re stationed in different places?

Yes. You and your partner can attend the same live ceremony from different locations. Both of you need to meet the marriage requirements and have a reliable video connection.

Can we get married online before deployment?

Online marriage can be an option when travel is difficult. Contact us with your available dates so we can check ceremony availability and help you get started on the license application.

Is online marriage legally valid?

A live online marriage can be legally valid when the required steps are completed. Your ceremony includes a valid license, an authorized officiant, two adult witnesses and the required filing. Read how the legal process works ↗

Will military benefits start automatically?

No. You need to update your records and complete the enrollment steps that apply to you. Your personnel office, DEERS office and TRICARE can explain the documents, deadlines and eligibility requirements for your circumstances.

What if one of us is not a U.S. citizen?

U.S. citizenship is not required to apply for this marriage license. If you plan to use your marriage for immigration, speak with a qualified immigration adviser about your circumstances, especially if you will be apart during the ceremony.

Do we need an apostille for military paperwork?

An apostille is used to authenticate a document for certain international uses. Don’t assume you need one just because you’re stationed overseas. Ask the office receiving your certificate which documents it needs.

Can we reschedule if our orders change?

Yes! If your plans change, let us know. We’re happy to work with you to reschedule your ceremony. If you’d like to change your package, our team can help with that too.
