Planning your marriage from Arkansas

Online marriage in Arkansas: get legally married from home

If you are planning from Arkansas, first decide whether you want a ceremony under the local state process or an officiant-led online ceremony through our separate service. That choice affects where you apply, how you participate and where the completed record is filed. It is especially useful to make this decision early when one partner cannot attend a local application appointment or your plans involve more than one location.

Two different ways to plan

Keep the local application and return deadline together

Arkansas’s local licensing guidance requires both applicants to be present to receive the license. The fact that information or forms can be found online does not remove that appearance requirement. If getting to an appointment together is the main obstacle, compare the complete local route with our remote process before you start paying for documents.

A local Arkansas license may be obtained in one part of the state and used for a ceremony elsewhere in Arkansas. This can help couples planning a wedding away from home. It does not mean the same license can be used in any state or through any online ceremony provider. The geographic permission belongs to Arkansas’s own marriage process.

The return deadline is another important difference. Current local guidance calls for the license to be returned to the issuing office within 60 days of the date it was issued, whether or not it was used. Do not treat that whole period as free time before thinking about filing. The ceremony date and the return task need to fit the same plan.

Your plans, made clearer

A practical plan when attending together is difficult

The portal guides you through joining from different locations and through the paperwork for our ceremony. Arkansas’s local appearance rules apply only if you choose that state’s local route.

If you choose our live online ceremony, use the account’s preparation steps and license instructions. Keep your identification, legal names and earlier marriage details ready. Do not upload an unrelated Arkansas license expecting the officiant to adapt it to the remote service. Ask about an existing license before starting a second application.

For the time after the wedding, write down where the marriage will be recorded and which certificate copies you need. A future request for your marriage record goes to the place that recorded it, not automatically to an Arkansas records office because that is where you live. This small note can save confusion years later.

What to expect from the process

Prepare together

Explore your options, then use your account to complete your couple profile and the requested details. Follow the license instructions in your portal and upload the approved license when prompted.

Meet for a live ceremony

Choose an available appointment after the required preparation. You and your partner join by video with an officiant and two adult witnesses. We can provide the witnesses, or you can bring your own.

Choose document support

The $399 package includes the ceremony. The $899 package adds apostille authentication for your marriage certificate. Both have a separate government marriage license fee. An apostille authenticates a document; it does not guarantee acceptance.

Local requirements

Arkansas marriage rules to know

These details apply to a marriage license issued through the Arkansas local process. They are state-specific planning points, not requirements for the separate license used for our ceremony.

  • Both applicants must be present to receive a local Arkansas license.
  • An Arkansas license can be obtained in one Arkansas county and used elsewhere within the state.
  • The license must be returned to its issuing office within 60 days of issuance.

State rules reviewed: November 7, 2026. Confirm local requirements with the issuing office before applying.

Two different processes

Choose the route that fits your plans

A marriage license issued in Arkansas follows Arkansas rules. Our remote ceremony uses a separate application and ceremony process. The steps below explain what our service includes; they do not replace local requirements if you apply for a Arkansas license.

Questions from Arkansas couples

Can an Arkansas license be used anywhere?

The local guidance allows it to be used throughout Arkansas, not as a general license for every jurisdiction or online service.

What if we already have an unused Arkansas license?

Tell the team before starting our process. Also follow the issuing office’s instructions for returning the local license, including the 60-day return requirement.

Will our ceremony be recorded in Arkansas?

Not through this separate remote process. Your marriage record is held by the government authority that records the ceremony, rather than automatically by your home state. Keep the certified copy and confirm what the organization receiving it needs.

Can we join the ceremony from different places?

Yes. The ceremony is live by video, and both partners may join from the same room or separate locations. Everyone must be able to see and hear one another. Two adult witnesses attend, and witnesses are included if you need them.

Does this service issue a Arkansas marriage license?

No. The online ceremony follows the process described on our How it works page. The Arkansas rules above apply to couples choosing a local Arkansas license. These are separate routes, so do not treat a local application or a general course as a substitute for the process described on our How it works page.

How long does it take to get married online from Arkansas?

Your portal shows available appointment times and guides you through the application and identity checks. The government authority handles certificate processing after the ceremony; timing depends on that office.

Will every agency accept our marriage certificate?

Requirements depend on the office or organization receiving the certificate, and can differ for benefits, immigration matters or use outside the United States. Ask that office what record, certified copy, apostille or translation it needs before choosing a package.

Can we use a local clerk near Little Rock, Fayetteville instead?

You can choose a local Arkansas license route, but local application and ceremony rules are separate from our remote process described on our How it works page. Contact the clerk or issuing office for the current requirements in the county or town where you plan to apply.
