A local form may help prepare information, but it does not by itself issue the marriage license or perform a wedding. Two different ways to plan
The local application depends on where you live
For the Ohio local process, residents apply in the county where either applicant lives. When neither applicant lives in Ohio, the application is made where the ceremony will be performed. This is an application rule for a local Ohio marriage. It is not a requirement to obtain an Ohio license before using our remote-marriage service.
Ohio marriage licenses expire 60 days after issuance. An online registration confirmation may have a different lifespan from the actual issued license. For example, one local registration system says registration information and its confirmation number remain valid for 90 days, while the marriage license is valid for 60. Keeping these dates separate can prevent a couple from mistakenly planning around the longer period.
The same official guidance makes another distinction clear: registration is not a ceremony, and applicants ordinarily appear together to receive the local license. Our service does not turn that Ohio license into a video-call wedding. If you have started a local application, let the team know so the next instructions reflect what you have already done rather than sending you through two competing processes.

Keep confirmation numbers from becoming false milestones
An application number can be useful without proving you are ready to marry. Save it with the name of the process it belongs to, the date submitted and the step still required. For a local wedding, make sure your officiant is authorized for the chosen ceremony. If a friend offers to lead the event, confirm the legal role before treating a meaningful personal offer as a completed arrangement. Keep any confirmation and the eventual issued document separately.
For our remote service, follow the account checklist for the correct license, identification, scheduling and witnesses. Make sure both partners can see and hear during the live appointment, even if they are in separate places. Afterward, follow the filing and certificate instructions for that process. Before sending proof to an employer or other organization, check the requested format so you do not substitute an application receipt or ceremony recording for an official document.

Choose an available appointment after the required preparation. You and your partner join by video with an officiant and two adult witnesses. We can provide the witnesses, or you can bring your own.
Choose document support
The $399 package includes the ceremony. The $899 package adds apostille authentication for your marriage certificate. Both have a separate government marriage license fee. An apostille authenticates a document; it does not guarantee acceptance.

These details apply to a marriage license issued through the Ohio local process. They are state-specific planning points, not requirements for the separate license used for our ceremony.

Can we use a local clerk near Columbus, Cleveland instead?
