Two different ways to plan
The Maryland ceremony location is part of the license decision
Maryland Courts says the license for a local marriage is issued for the county where the ceremony will take place. It is effective in that location for six months from the date and time stated on the license. If you change the planned ceremony location, do not assume the same Maryland license follows you automatically.
The ordinary effective time is 6 a.m. on the second calendar day after issuance, unless a court grants an exception. This precise rule is more helpful than thinking of it as a vague two-day delay. For a local ceremony, read the actual license and confirm the date, time and place before arranging the event around it.
Maryland also describes a nonresident-affidavit application route, with an exception in Cecil County. If your first plan involved a Maryland venue, make a short list of what is booked and what is only being considered. Include any application already submitted, the intended officiant and whether a document has been issued. Share the relevant details when you ask about switching to our service. For a remote ceremony, note the physical place where each partner expects to join and the correct appointment time for each person. Afterward, plan for proof of marriage separately from the celebration. An employer or other organization may need a certified record, and an international use can raise additional document questions. Confirm what is required for that use and keep a delivery address that will still work if your plans change.

Choose an available appointment after the required preparation. You and your partner join by video with an officiant and two adult witnesses. We can provide the witnesses, or you can bring your own.
Choose document support
The $399 package includes the ceremony. The $899 package adds apostille authentication for your marriage certificate. Both have a separate government marriage license fee. An apostille authenticates a document; it does not guarantee acceptance.

Can one Maryland license be used anywhere in the state?
Maryland Courts says the license is effective in the county where issued for the planned ceremony. If the location changes, confirm the appropriate local process rather than assuming the existing license can be moved.
Does Maryland’s nonresident affidavit mean the ceremony is online?
No. That is a way to apply in certain circumstances. It does not itself establish permission for a remote ceremony. Our online ceremony is a separate service with its own licensing instructions.
Will our ceremony be recorded in Maryland?
