Our service follows a separate licensing process and leads to a live online ceremony with an officiant. Before choosing a route, make sure you know which document you are applying for and what ceremony it permits. This is especially helpful when partners are apart or a celebration date has already been chosen.

Two different ways to plan
Use the dates printed on the local license
Washington’s local marriage process includes a three-day waiting rule. Because instructions may describe the application, issuance and effective dates differently, ask for the actual first and last usable dates of your issued license. Do not calculate a wedding deadline from a payment receipt or an unfinished online form.
The state’s law also limits how long the license can be used. If your local ceremony plans change, recheck the document before reserving a replacement date. A venue’s availability or a convenient video appointment does not extend a license’s validity. Ask how the application and ceremony steps fit together in the local route you choose.

A shared checklist can show each person’s account tasks, identification preparation and witness plans. It is easier to spot a missing step when both partners understand the process, even if one is doing most of the organizing.
If your goal is to hold a Washington celebration later, decide whether it is a celebration only or the event where you intend to marry legally. Tell anyone arranging an officiant what has already been completed. After an online ceremony, follow the certificate instructions from the process actually used, rather than requesting a Washington marriage record merely because that is where you live. The place a marriage is recorded and your home address may be different. Save the confirmed dates with the license so both partners can refer to the same information.

The $399 package includes the ceremony. The $899 package adds apostille authentication for your marriage certificate. Both have a separate government marriage license fee. An apostille authenticates a document; it does not guarantee acceptance.
